POLOKWANE – The Polokwane Municipality said it will provide temporary relief in the form of water tankers to areas affected by water supply challenges.

Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) has reported that pumping at the Olifantspoort Plant has stopped barely a day after they reported a leaking flange adaptor at the Ebenezer Plant.

Municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala said LNW reported a power failure at pump station 3 as a result of stolen cables at the Eerstegoud substation.

“LNW communication to the municipality states that Eskom is ‘working on it’. This will affect all areas of supply within the Polokwane Municipality that have already been struggling to recover from challenges experienced this week,” he said.

Selala said residents experiencing challenges should report any water related challenge promptly to the municipal Water and Sanitation helpline on 015 290 2376 so aid can be dispatched.
